Sea Water Desalination Specialist
Orez Consortium is able to implement desalination plants with a processing capacity of up to 250 million litres or 250,000 tones of portable water including investment capabilities based on Public Private Partnership (“PPP”) modality.
RO Desalination Advantages
Owing to the rapid development of membrane technology in recent decades, (Sea Water Reverse Osmosis) SWRO has been widely applied with its significant advantages: –
- Low energy consumption
- Low chemical consumption
- Relatively shorter construction period;
- Smaller CAPEX
- High recovery rate of fresh water
- Low maintenance costs
- Green financing
High Water Purity: Removes up to 99% of dissolved salts, particles, and contaminants.
Energy Efficient: Modern RO systems consume less energy compared to thermal desalination.
Compact System Design: Requires less physical space and can be modular.
Scalable Technology: Suitable for small-scale to large municipal operations.
Environmentally Friendly: No harmful chemicals are needed for the process.
Proven Technology: Widely used globally with reliable performance history.
Lower Operating Costs: Compared to other desalination methods over time.
Removes Pathogens: Filters out bacteria, viruses, and microorganisms effectively.
Minimal Pre-treatment: Advances in membrane technology reduce pre-treatment needs.
Adaptability: Can treat seawater, brackish water, and even wastewater.
RO Desalination Characteristics
- Flexible optional pre-treatment processes available for specific conditions
- Automated desalination plants
- Suitable in seawater, brackish water and industrial water treatment
- Small footprint
- The produced fresh water meets the requirements of irrigation water, industrial water, even the drinking (WHO standard) water standards
- Application of the advanced recovery systems to minimize the energy loss.
Membrane-Based Process: Uses semi-permeable membranes to filter out salts and impurities.
High-Pressure Operation: Requires high pressure to force water through the membranes.
Selective Filtration: Allows only water molecules to pass, blocking salts and contaminants.
Energy Dependent: Relies on electric power, primarily for high-pressure pumps.
Concentrate Discharge: Produces a brine stream that must be managed or disposed of.
Pre-treatment Requirement: Feedwater must be filtered to prevent membrane fouling.
Periodic Maintenance: Membranes require cleaning and eventual replacement.
Recovery Rate: Typically recovers 35–50% of seawater as freshwater; higher for brackish water.
Temperature Sensitive: Performance is affected by feedwater temperature.
Automated Control: Often managed by sophisticated control systems for efficiency and safety.
